DAY TWO LGMA NATIONAL CONGRESS

EVENT: THE 2010 LOCAL GOVERNMENT MANAGERS AUSTRALIA (LGMA) NATIONAL CONGRESS & BUSINESS EXPO (SECOND DAY)
World Vision Australia Chief Executive, Tim Costello AO will keynote the second day of the LGMA National Congress and Business Expo TODAY at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
Reverend Costello, widely regarded as Australia’s voice of social conscience will discuss how local governments can embrace the UN’s Millennium Development Goals and help eradicate local and world poverty.
2010 is the Year of Women in Local Government. Women on Boards chair, Ruth Medd will discuss gender diversity as ‘just good business’ and the recent initiatives employed by ASX200 companies to increase the number of women in CEO roles and on boards. Teams from three Australian councils will also present their findings on issues, attitudes and challenges that exist to women obtaining senior management and elected positions in local government.

Day 2: Monday, 18 May
11.30am Keynote address by World Vision Chief Executive, Tim Costello AO entitled “Global Crisis: Local Action - connecting local government to global solutions.
1.30pm Presentation by Women on Boards Chair, Ruth Medd discussing gender diversity as just good business in ASX200 companies.
2.00pm Presentation by 2010 Year of Women in Local Government National Steering Committee Chair, Ray Pincombe (City of Unley, SA) followed by a panel discussion on gender equity in local government.
3.30pm Presentation by Cities of Randwick (NSW) and Boroondara (VIC) and Shire of Mundaring (WA) on issues, attitudes and challenges to women in local government advancing into senior management and elected roles.
