LGMA national congratulates our New Zealand colleagues
Earlier this year three LGMA members were chosen from a high calibre list of candidates to travel to the Unites States as part of the US Climate Change fellowship program.
Wayne Pragnell (WA), Jeff Green (NSW) and Warren Mortlock (QLD) travelled to the U.S. in April where they spent two weeks with host cities and two weeks in Washington D.C. Each fellow shared their experiences and observations with their peers back in Australia through a series of interesting and insightful blogs and memoirs.
With the selection process for round two fellows underway, LGMA National would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our trans Tasman colleagues Dale Meredith (Otago Regional Council), Geoff Wilkinson (Palmerston North City Council) and Mark Clews (Hasting District Council) on their selection as round one fellows.
Like our own three fellows Dale, Geoff and Mark were chosen to travel to the U.S. under the auspices of the US climate change fellowship program. Dale and Geoff were hosted by El Paso in Texas and Mark spent two weeks with his American counterparts in Park City, Utah.
In an article published on SOLGM’s website, the trio expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to network with colleagues from all over the world on common issues associated climate change and sustainability. In particular, how different people tackle the same problem through different means for the same end goal.

The U.S. climate change fellowship program was made possible by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It provides for a number of local government professionals around the world the opportunity to undertake professional development and cultural exchange during a four-week fellowship in the United States.
