Excellence in Local Government Leadership Program 2011
When the former Prime Minister announced the establishment of the
Australian Centre of Excellence for Local Government (ACELG)
Mr. Rudd particularly highlighted the need for the centre to address
the professionalism of our sector, both elected members and professional.
The Prime Minister promoted a strategic leadership program similar to the ANZSoG public sector programs, which have been so successful in professionalising the public service.
To that end ACELG has developed a strategic leadership program for local government in conjunction with its consortium partner ANZSoG and sought scholarships from Commonwealth and State governments.
Some 40 scholarships were offered for the Excellence in Local Government Leadership program, which will be run in July and September this year. The strategic leadership program is designed with local and international input and will challenge the participant’s thinking about local government in the coming decade.
