History
LGMA's involvement in international relations dates as far back as 1969 when LGMA provided a range of training and development programs to personnel establishing PNG local government structures.
About
Australian local government is well regarded internationally and our expertise and assistance if often sought. Increasingly LGMA is called upon by various international governments, authorities, associations and communities to provide technical assistance and support.
For this reason, international relations, assistance and development programs is a vital and rapidly expanding program of work, generating personal and profressional development opportunities for LGMA members.
LGMA's international relations, assistance and development activities are designed to achieve:
- Personal and professional development for LGMA members;
- Advancement of local government management and promotion of good governance; and
- Program development and services delivery in local communities, including developing communities.
